2010 ~ Tillie, Queen Mum

JUST FOR TODAY:
I will be happy.  I will not dwell on thoughts that depress me.  If my mind fills with clouds, I will chase them away and fill it with sunshine.

2010 ~ Tillie, Queen Mum

JUST FOR TODAY:
I will live through this day only.  I will not brood about yesterday or obsess about tomorrow.  I will not set far-reaching goals or try to overcome all of my problems at once.

If I could catch a rainbow, I would do it just for you
And share with you its beauty, On the days you're feeling blue.

If I could build a mountain you could call your very own;
A place to find serenity, A place to be alone.

If I could take your troubles I would toss them in the sea,
But all these things I'm finding, Are impossible for me.

I cannot build a mountain, Or catch a rainbow fair,
But let me be what I know best, A friend who's always there.

"A Lady is Passing By"

A Lady is Passing by

We are all standing along her path

As this great Lady takes her last journey

Sisters all dressed in purple and red

As a Red Hat Sister passes by.

She will be passing my way soon

I can feel her spirit in the morning breeze

I am blessed that I came to know her

Before this Red Hat Sister passed by me.

The words of an old hymn comfort me

Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,

And grace will lead me home

In grace a Red Hat Sister is passing by.

As she passes we tip our red hats in respect

And our hearts crying shed tears of love

We stand in awe - she is one of our own.

Our Red Hat sister is passing by.

  • For attractive lips, speak words of kindness.   For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people.
  • For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry.
  • For beautiful hair, let a child run his/her fingers through it once a day.
  • For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone. People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed; never throw out anyone.
  • Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you will find one at the end of each of your arms.  As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands; one for helping yourself, and the other for helping others.

CHOCOLATE IS A VEGETABLE
Chocolate is derived from cocoa beams.
Beans = vegetable.
Sugar is derived from either sugar CANE or sugar BEETS.
Both are plants, which places them in the vegetable category.
Thus, Chocolate is a vegetable.
To go one step further, chocolate candy bars also contain milk, which is dairy.
So candy bars are a health food.
Chocolate covered raisins, cherries, orange slices and strawberries all
count as fruit, so eat as many as you want.
If you've got melted chocolate all over your hands, your are eating it too slowly.

From the AARP May/June 2009 issue:
"In my older years I'm going to go into that world of children," Dolly Parton says.  "That's the way to keep yourself young.  Be childlike, not childish."  The way Parton sees it, it's simple:  You can do anything you want to do as long as you keep a good attitude and keep working at it," she says.  "But the second you give up, you're screwed."

20 Great Ideas for the Sassy Floridian Red Hatters
1. Take a 10-30 minute walk every day.  And while you walk, smile.  It is the ultimate anti-depressant.
2. Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day.  Buy a lock if you have to.
3. Buy a DVR, tape your late night shows and get more sleep.
4. When you wake up in the morning complete the following statement, 'My purpose is to __________ today.'
5. Live with the 3 E's -- Energy, Enthusiasm, and Empathy.
6. Watch more movies, play more games and read more books than you did in 2007.
7. Make time to practice meditation, yoga, tai chi, and prayer. They provide us with daily fuel for our busy lives.
8. Spend time with people over the age of 70 and under the age of six.
9. Dream more while you are awake.
10. Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less food that is manufactured in plants.
11. Drink green tea and plenty of water... Eat blueberries, wild Alaskan salmon, broccoli, almonds & walnuts.
12. Try to make at least three people smile each day.
13. Clear clutter from your house, your car, your desk and let new and flowing energy into your life.
14. Don't waste your precious energy on gossip, energy vampires, issues of the past, negative thoughts or things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment.
15. Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn. Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away like algebra class but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime.
16. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a college kid with a maxed out charge card.
17. Smile and laugh more. It will keep the energy vampires away.
18. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.
19. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
20. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

“Buy Laws” For Red Hatters

1. What happens at Red Hat luncheons stays at Red Hat luncheons…unless it will get you on Oprah.

2. We will attend every luncheon we possibly can…unless we can’t.

3.  We acknowledge chocolate as an honorary member with equal rights and privileges.

4.  We promise to shop until we drop…even if no one is there to pick us up.

5.  No occasion is too small to celebrate…by eating dessert, if nothing else.

6.  We promise to ooh and aah over pictures of each other’s pets, child and/or grandchildren.

7.  We will plunge into chapter projects with reckless abandon.

8.  We acknowledge the truth that Red Hatters are both clever and “crafty”.

9.  Life begins when we say it does…WE ARE NOT OLD OR STRANGE!

10.  We are members of the SASSY FLORIDIAN RED HATTERS!!
